The Beginning...
There's the first time we ever met (uneventful)... the first time we ever spoke (debatable)... and then there's the beginning of us. So let's skip to the fun part...
Zeta Beta Tau fraternity held its annual overnight extravaganza in San Antonio on Saturday, January 22, 2008. The party took place at The Republic of Texas, a restaurant and nightclub on the Riverwalk. Although Todd and I both walked in the door with our respective dates, somehow I found myself at the bar with Todd's arm around my shoulder.
"I'll get you anything you want," he said.
"It's a bar tab," I shot back. "And let's get tequila shots."

With that, we headed to the dance floor for practically the entire night. I taught Todd the "Soulja Boy" dance, and he twirled me and twirled me and twirled me some more.
At the end of the night, we reunited with our dates and went our separate ways. "Separate" because all the taxicabs ended up at the same place: the nearest Rodeway Inn. Todd got my number and called to invite me to hang out with friends in another room, but I declined.
For all I knew, Todd didn't have as rockin' a time as I did in San Antonio because almost an entire week dragged on... and no word. It wasn't until the following Thursday night... I was walking up the stairs of Peckerhead's on 6th St. in Austin when Zach Wolf (one of Todd's best friends) made a bee line for me and told me I had "Danziger" written all over me. That's all it took... a hint that maybe I had impressed Todd with my "Superman that ohhh!" moves. So, I went against every rule in my book and sent Todd a text message. He responded that he was in New Orleans for Mardi Gras, and that it'd be "cool" if I were there with him. After a few more texts back and forth, it would be days before I'd hear from him again.

Fast-forward another week or so... I received a text from Todd one afternoon asking what I was doing that night. Finally!
The rest, my friends, is history. We dated that spring, enjoyed one summer together in the same city, and began our long-distance relationship when Todd moved to Houston for medical school. I was hooked, he was hooked, and it only took one try at a significant other for both of us!
